After proving during the 2010 FIFA World Cup that he’s not too young to play with the big boys, Manchester City youngster Vladimir Weiss was sent out on a season long loan to Rangers of the Scottish Premier League on Thursday.
Today he was officially unveiled to the media. The Slovakian international is extremely excited about the prospect of getting a lot of playing time for his new club.
“As soon as I got this offer I was really interested. I had a few offers, including from Italy and Germany, and then the offer from Rangers came – to play for a big team like this will be a pleasure for me,” he said.
“Celtic came in for me first but then Rangers came in and when I looked through all of the offers, I picked Rangers. The fact that Rangers are in the Champions League was obviously a big incentive for me. Every player wants to play in the Champions League so it’s a great opportunity.”
Manchester City are hoping that the 20-year-old Weiss will get lots of playing time and gain much needed experience for when he returns to the Eastlands next season. It is expected that Weiss will make his Rangers debut this Sunday against Hibernian.
