Another season is here, and yet again Arsenal has been hit by injuries to key players. The latest news coming out of the Emirates is that French midfielder Samir Nasri is set to miss the next month of action with a knee injury that requires an operation.

A statement from the Gunners revealed the news, saying: “Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri will today undergo minor surgery on his knee following a meniscal injury sustained during the match against Liverpool on Sunday.

“Nasri, who has been in impressive form, will be out of action for a month.”

Nasri is viewed by most fans as the midfield lynchpin when captain Cesc Fabregas is not available, and it remains unclear as to whether Cesc himself will be fit to play for the Gunners this weekend. Luckily for Arsene Wenger, his side shouldn’t struggle too much with a home fixture against Blackpool.

Even aside from Nasri, Arsenal have had bad luck with injuries lately. Five other players are currently sidelined with injury, with some of them in line to make  a first team return soon. Denilson, Alex Song, and Johan Djourou could all be returning briefly, while Nicklas Bendtner’s recovery will take a little longer. Aaron Ramsey remains the team’s long-term injury.
