Frenchman feeling the love at City

Manchester City midfielder Patrick Vieira has expressed his delight at being a part of the current City squad, singling out new signing Yaya Toure for special praise. The Ivorian, who this summer became the league’s highest paid player, revealed that Vieira has been an inspiration throughout his career, and Vieira was delighted with the praise.

“It’s terrific and very flattering when people say that you’ve been some kind of influence on them,” Vieira told Manchester City’s club website.

“Yaya is one of the best midfielders in the world and for him to come to City shows the kind of ambition this club has.

“We want to win trophies and I think we’ll do it, especially with players like Yaya and Aleksandar Kolarov who is another great player. I’ve played against him a few times in Italy and he is great acquisition.”

After narrowly missing out on the top four last season, Manchester City is hoping to gatecrash the top four and possibly even compete for the Premier League title. Roberto Mancini has continued to strengthen his squad this summer, bringing the likes of Jerome Boateng and David Silva to the club in addition to former Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure.

The Citizens begin their quest for Premier League glory with a tricky away tie against Tottenham on the 14th of August.
