Bellamy could be leaving City

By | 15th July 2010

If the rumors are right, Welsh striker Craig Bellamy could be set to leave Manchester City this summer. The Citizens have a wealth of strikers on their books and could add even more before the summer is done, and The Guardian is reporting that Bellamy is now available for purchase.

Earlier in the summer Bellamy was linked with a move to Championship side Cardiff City. Cardiff is Bellamy’s hometown club, and there were suggestions that the Bluebirds would bring him in on a loan deal. The move would be an interesting one for the 30 year old striker as Cardiff is one of the elite teams in the Championship, narrowly missing out on promotion after Blackpool beat them in the play-off final at Wembley.

Harry Redknapp has also made it clear that he’d be interested in luring the Welshman to White Hart Lane to play for Tottenham in their first Champions League campaign. With that said, any potential deal bringing Bellamy to Tottenham could be scuppered by the striker’s wage demands.

“City bought him for £12 million and the player must be on considerably high wages,” said Redknapp. “I just don’t see [a transfer to Spurs] happening.”

A third potential destination for Bellamy if he leaves Manchester City could be former club Celtic. The Bhoys are seeking to regain the Scottish Premier League title, and Bellamy would be a welcome addition at Parkhead.
