Germany’s heartbreaking elimination in the World Cup certainly does not equate to an end to the interest in the nation’s stand-out performers this summer. Europe’s biggest clubs have been battling to lure everyone from Per Mertesacker to youngster Sami Khedira towards a move outside the Bundesliga. As far as Bayern Munich are concerned, though, none of the club’s targeted players are for sale.
The club’s outspoken chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has reiterated that after reaching last season’s Champions League final with the help of Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, and Thomas Muller, the club has no interest in letting its key players depart for the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.
“If any club should make an approach for one of our players, it would be useless. Our reaction would always be the same – no way, absolutely no way. We are not eager to start any negotiation about our players. We won’t sell any of these players,” said Rummenigge.
The chairman of the Bavarian outfit also added that the financial stability at Allianz Arena is another major factor that explains Bayern’s rationale of keeping their core group of players together.
“The quality of our team is important and we are in a very comfortable situation in that we don’t have financial pressure at all,” he concluded.
