World Cup top scorer Gonzalo Higuain admits that he is not concerned by the race for the tournament’s Golden Boot crown. Instead, the Real Madrid player just wants to take home the World Cup for his nation, and with a mouthwatering quarterfinal clash against Germany Diego Maradona’s squad have a real chance at asserting themselves as tournament favorites.

“I do not think about it. The truth is that being among the top scorers at the World Cup is a satisfaction, but that does not help if we do not reach our goals. And my goal is to have my team-mates on a lap of honor after the final,” he told AS.

“I’m living a dream, which I have had since childhood, the dream I grew up with when I wanted to be a football player. Representing my country in a World Cup is priceless. And having my family around makes it special.

“I know I’m here because of the effort, my work at the club, and because I was always sure that if kept chasing my dream, I was going to achieve it.”

Higuain is currently tied at the top of the goalscorers’ chart with four goals, and is joined by David Villa of Spain and Robert Vittek of Slovakia. The Real Madrid star has an edge over Vittek as Slovakia crashed out of the tournament in the Round of 16, while David Villa and Spain are set to take on Paraguay in the quarterfinals.
