The English side has surprised the entire football world on their way to the Nordbank Arena and it was only fitting that they had to overcome Hamburg SV to participate in the finale at the hosts’ expense.

The Spaniards, on the other hand, have had an unpleasant domestic season but ever since becoming the first team to defeat the defending champions FC Barcelona in the current La Liga campaign, they have gradually been gaining some momentum. With star striker Sergio Aguero reported to be moving to Premier League champions and Fulham’s West London rivals Chelsea, this is perhaps the best opportunity for a rebuilding Atletico side to claim glory before it’s too late.

Ever since they suffered a shock elimination following the UEFA Champions League group stages, Liverpool and Juventus were considered by many to be the favorites to play against each other in the final of the Europa League. Interestingly, both the current finalists ended up claiming their scalps as Fulham dramatically eliminated the Bianconeri and Atletico edged out the Reds.
