The Seattle Sounders have unveiled the design of their third kit, titled “Electricity.” According to the official Sounders FC Pro Shop, this kit will be worn during all international friendlies played at Qwest Field and some cup matches. The uniform features a bright yellow primary accented with the trademark Sounders’ rave green. The new kit is pictured below.
“To me, the philosophy was it was important to establish the fact that we were rave green,” Sounders FC Senior Vice President of Business Operations Gary Wright said this past Thursday. “The more we could wear that, the more we could emphasize that. Now, I think everybody gets that. So now we join the world’s community and have three like everybody.”
“It’s another opportunity to make a statement about our brand,” said club GM and owner Adrian Hanauer. “We’ll use them, not exclusively, but largely in the friendlies and potentially in the Open Cup or Champions League.”
“I wouldn’t put it past Sigi to mix it into a league game if he thought there was the potential to get points by putting a different color jersey on,” he laughed. “I think everyone knows we’re a rave green team, but it’s nice to add another palette and a little bit of fun.”
