Madrid star: "We have to win them all"  | read this item

Real Madrid closed to within one point of La Liga leaders Barcelona with their 2-0 win over Valencia yesterday. The usual suspects were on the scoresheet for the title hopefuls, with Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo both finding the back of the net. Sergio Ramos and Higuain’s international teammate Fernando Gago both insist that Madrid are up for the fight.

“We are aware of what is at stake and we would like to finish the season giving our fans a title. They deserve it after the suffering of having been knocked out in two competitions,” said Sergio Ramos.

“We knew that was El Clasico was a super important game but these are three important points. No one was confident that Barcelona could drop points but the have. Real Madrid will fight as much as possible to try to win the league. If they get it we will congratulate them but we’re going all out to win it.

“We’ve got big games against teams with a lot to play for. We have to maintain this level to win the title. It would be a mistake to think about the five games remaining and not just the next one. Next is Zaragoza, whose survival is at stake. We have to win them all to be champions.”

Meanwhile, Fernando Gago reiterated the stance that Los Blancos need to win all of their remaining five games.

“I do not know whether we will be champions. But we are there we will fight to the last day. With the Barcelona’s result yesterday it was important to win and we won. It is true that we did not have the accuracy of other games but we scored two goals and had a good game,” said the Argentine.

“We know there’s still a way to go and we must continue in the same way. Winning is our obligation and if Barcelona loses points that’s up to them. We have to add to maintain the fight.”
