Chelsea expand youth club network in US  | read this item

Chelsea FC has made its intentions clear regarding two of its objectives. One of these objectives is to increase its presence in the United States, which the club accomplishes by traveling across the pond for a US tour every summer. The second objective revolves around grooming the best young talent around the world. In their latest venture for global expansion, the Blues have integrated these two objectives by joining hands with two of America’s leading youth soccer clubs in Phoenix and Dallas.

Sereno Soccer Club of Phoenix and Solar Soccer Club of Dallas will benefit from the coaching philosophy of the Stamford Bridge oufit by interacting frequently with members of the Barclays Premier League side. In the words of Chelsea’s Chief Executive Ron Gourlay, the club’s youth network is “designed to create long-term growth and sustainability of soccer in America by supporting elite youth clubs that provide the best soccer instruction and experience for local players.”

“Sereno Soccer Club has been developing soccer for more than 30 years in Arizona and this partnership will assist them in taking it to the next level and expanding their reach and impact on the game,” he added.

David Robertson, the Director of Coaching of the perenially number one ranked team of Arizona, is thrilled to have the supervision of Chelsea. “We see this as a very positive step forward for our players and coaching staff.  Getting access to the Chelsea FC Youth Academy programming and coaches will help us to ensure that our training programs are world class,” said Robertson.

Meanwhile, Gourlay continued to emphasize the importance of the expansion project by speaking about arriving in the Big D. “Dallas is a great sports city in America and the growth of soccer there at both the youth and professional level is significant. Partnering with Solar allows us to continue to help the development of soccer in Texas by staying closely connected to the community through a top club.  Solar’s mission of Soccer Excellence Through Development is perfectly aligned with our youth club network goals.”

Kevin Smith, who serves as the Director of Coaching at Solar, is also very excited about the prospect of teaming up with the West Londoners. “This is a big deal for our club and for youth soccer in the Dallas area,” he said. “Chelsea is very selective in clubs they ask to join their network so for us to be on board further proves that Solar is among the elite clubs in the country. Using Chelsea FC’s training curriculum and having their coaches involved with our kids will take our club to the next level.  It’s an exciting time for us.”

Arizona and Texas have now joined North Carolina, Maryland, California, and Hawaii as the only other states who have enjoyed the opportunity of welcoming Chelsea to assist them in developing the local youth system.
