Jamie Redknapp believes that Chelsea winger Florent Malouda is getter better and better for an improving Blues side. The former England international thinks Malouda is cementing his spot in Chelsea’s starting eleven, and his versatility could prove decisive in this year’s title race.
“Florent Malouda looked like one of those lightweight players who wouldn’t be able to handle the power and intensity of the English game,” said Redknapp in his Daily Mail column.
“He gets better with each season here. He can play wide, he can also play as an inside left and more central too.
“You can see he has worked on his strength and he was too much for West Ham.”
Redknapp also commented on Malouda’s fellow winger at Stamford Bridge, citing that Joe Cole is perhaps the hottest property in world football this summer.
“Joe Cole on a free? You can feel the queue forming already. Where else can you get a £20million player for nothing?” wrote Redknapp.
“The thing with Joe is that he needs a manager who believes in him.
“That doesn’t seem to be the case at Chelsea, but there are plenty of others who will. Can Chelsea really afford to let him go?”
