Liverpool may have picked up a 2-1 win over Blackburn at Anfield yesterday, but the war of words between managers Rafa Benitez and Sam Allardyce rumbles on.
Benitez has continued his recent form of sarcasm by praising Blackburn for their style of play.
“I think he’s a model for all the managers around the world,” said Benitez.
“I’m sure he’s a model. His style of football, his behaviour, everything. He’s the perfect model for all the kids. Their style of football… I think Barcelona are thinking of copying the style.”
In particular Benitez was unhappy with the incident involving Blackburn player Steven Nzonzi and Liverpool’s Lucas. Nzonzi was guilty of pushing Lucas to the ground, but received what Benitez believes was a lenient yellow card.
“The Nzonzi incident was very clear. He touched the face of Lucas. The rules are the rules,” said Benitez.
“We prefer to do our talking on the pitch.
“It doesn’t matter [that Blackburn created more chances]. We won.
“If they are pleased with the way they play under this manager then that’s their decision. We prefer to try and win by trying to play well. Sometimes you cannot.
“We can win on the pitch and enjoy. Some people have to talk before or after the game because it is more difficult for them to do a football job.”
Big Sam responded to Benitez’s claims by saying: “I’m entitled to respond when I get criticised by Rafa Benitez.
“I’m entitled to respond to that so if you don’t understand that over the last few years then you must be deluded.
“Many other times I’ve been criticized personally by the manager so I feel I have the right [to criticize] back. We had five bookings and 25 fouls against us and that was not a fair reflection of how we played.
“I think if we’d have had a goalscorer we would have won the game.”

same old stories liverpool supporters paranoid cause of fergi
Big Sam is just being Fergies little glove puppet once again! He can’t accept that his side lost to the better team on Sunday. It was laughable how he tried to unsettle Rafa with his cheap comments and snide remarks before kick-off. What a total embarrassment he is to his club, players and fans!! 25 bookings against his team on Sunday says it al really, he instructed his team to try and kick our boys off the pitch using their physical advantage; He claims that if he had a goal scorer on Sunday then his team would have won??? yeh right!!! I agree with Rafa he is a role model for all the kids and aspiring managers – even Capello is thinking of changing his approach to copy him…!! maybe one day soon he’ll do us all a favour and choke on that piece of gum that always seems to be stuck to his front teeth!!
