Martin O’Neill has praised his side’s form up until this point in the season and is pleased that they are still in the race for that coveted fourth spot. The Villans drew fellow contenders Tottenham in a 0-0 draw this weekend, but O’Neill is certain there is still a lot left to do.

“I think that we are still in the race,” he said. “I’m just delighted that we are even being considered and we are still there with it and we’ve got things to look forward to.

“We are still in both cup competitions and I couldn’t be more delighted with the team.”

Villa currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League table, just three points behind fourth placed Liverpool, who have played a game more. Tottenham and Manchester City are Villa’s other rivals for the final Champions League spot.

Villa faces a challenging home tie against champions Manchester United on Wednesday at Villa Park, and O’Neill will be hoping for a repeat of their 1-0 win over the Red Devils in December at Old Trafford.
