The turn of the new year brings a whole new list of honors, and Blackburn striker Jason Roberts is delighted – and surprised – at being awarded an MBE. Roberts was given the award for his extensive charitable contributions in the United Kingdom and abroad.
“I’m very humbled by that award really,” Roberts told rovers.co.uk.
“I think it is in recognition of all the hard work that other people have put into the charity as well as myself, so yes I’m very humbled by the award.
“I started the Jason Roberts Foundation and the award is in recognition of the work done in the UK and in Grenada.
“It was a total surprise, you just don’t expect something like that to happen, you don’t what you do to get recognition in that way.”

He may be a rubbish striker but least he’s a decent fella and deserving of his MBE unlike Button or our soliders who don’t have one!! Well done Jason!!
