Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez remains upbeat even after watching his side succumb to a 2-1 loss against Arsenal at Anfield. The Reds have now faced elimination from the Champions League this season and their domestic efforts have seen them drop down the table into seventh place.

Many have been calling for Rafa Benitez to get sacked, with a poor run of six points from their last six league games often cited as just plain not good enough. The Spaniard, however, still has his eyes on a top four finish. Today Benitez went one step further and guaranteed a top four finish for the Anfield club.

“Every game for us is a game we have to win,” said Benitez.

“Our mentality, our idea is to win every game. Sometimes you can, sometimes you cannot.

“The manager has to be really positive and I am really positive.

“How can I change things? By working harder and doing my best every day.

“The players are doing the same and we are working together and I can guarantee we will finish in the top four.

“There are still 22 games to play so we know we have to change our target but now get three points against Wigan and start thinking about Portsmouth.”

  1. Joe D'Amore says:

The comments made are not reckless or boasting. It reveals confidence in a team that has not yet found a way to work well together. The “band of brothers” mentality is refreshing in soccer today . Its rare for a manager to take personal responsibility and care to get results.

  2. Bob says:

Haha just the headline made me laugh, a bit like the “our season starts now” being repeated 5 times in the last 3 weeks!!

  3. Blessed Relief says:

Sorry Rafa, but ive given up on you, ive stuck it out for as long as i possibly could but the fact is we are poor. You have spent so much money on players and our team is very average. Mediocre players look good.It wouldnt be as bad if you could motivate the Average players we have but you couldnt. They look miserable, uninterested and have really low morale.
Go Rafa, you have had your chance and failed miserabley. Go and let us hope you havent finished what was once the greatest football club in the world.

P.S. it would also be a nice gesture not to hold the club to randsome over ridiculous sums we may owe you. Take a modest amount and leave as much money in the clubs coffers to try and sort your mess out
