Redknapp fancies Grant for Pompey position  | read this item

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has publicly stated his desire to see former Chelsea manager Avram Grant take over the Portsmouth reins. Grant currently holds the position of director of football at Fratton Park, but following Paul Hart’s departure, Redknapp hopes Grant will jump back into management.

“Avram’s there – he worked with me there, he’s managed Chelsea,” said Redknapp.

“I’d be surprised if he didn’t end up taking it – it’s a good opportunity for him to get back into management but I don’t know, only he will know exactly want he wants to do.

“But he would be my choice if anybody was to take it.”

Redknapp also revealed his disappointment in seeing Hart leave the club: “I was disappointed to hear that – he is a great guy, a real football man, he has got a terrific understanding of the game.

“He did a great job under difficult circumstances and I think it is sad to see him lose his job.”

  1. He got what he wished for Redknapp ;)

  2. Bob says:

I think if Grant does take over his role will more likely be to build a squad that can gain promotion next season rather than survive this one, as it looks pretty bleak for them this season.

  3. I think they would do better with a new manager really.
A comeback like that could really mess things up.
But then again, Grant do have qualities and is a good manager.
