Former England international Sol Campbell has revealed that he is trying to push a move forward that would see him sign for Newcastle United. Campbell controversially left Notts County just months ago and has been looking for a squad since.
“I have had talks with Chris Hughton and if all works out, I would be happy to sign for Newcastle United,” said Campbell.
“My case with Notts County is scheduled for December 10, but it could easily be resolved before then. The rest is up to Newcastle, although nothing is signed yet.”
Newcastle manager Chris Hughton suggested that a move could happen pending the results from Campbell’s trial.
“Sol is one signing that might possibly happen here,” Hughton said. “He’s still got a lot to offer the game and, although he’ll get a lot of offers, I wouldn’t rule him coming to Newcastle out.”
