Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss his club’s second meeting with AC Milan in next week’s mouthwatering Champions League clash. The Portuguese winger has been sidelined with an ankle injury, and despite positive reports earlier in the week it has now been revealed that he will miss the match.
Ronaldo told AS of his desire to be fit against AC Milan earlier this week by saying, “I want to play against Milan. It is a very important game for us and I’ll try to be there.” Los Blancos lost to Milan at the Santiago Bernabeu 3-2 last week without the world’s most expensive player.
Reports from the Real Madrid medical team show that Ronaldo’s ankle has shown improvement, but next week’s match will be too soon for a return.
“I want to help my team-mates as soon as possible, but what is clear to me is that I cannot risk it. The season is long and I cannot return taking risks. Only when I am one hundred percent will I come back,” said Ronaldo.
Real Madrid and AC Milan are both on four points in Group C of the Champions League.
Very sad news :-(
