Bad news for Tottenham fans – Gareth Bale has returned to action in a closed doors friendly between QPR and Spurs. The defender completed 90 minutes of action as Tottenham ran out 3-2 winners over the Championship club.
While Bale is a highly rated left back in the Premier League, his return comes as a catch-22 for Spurs fans due to the infamous Gareth Bale curse. The Welsh international has never won a Premier League match with Tottenham (yes, he’s won in friendlies and cup games), and his return comes at a time where Tottenham are enjoying one of their best starts to a season ever.
The friendly also gave Tottenham goalkeeper Gomes a run-out as he comes back from his injury. Both will be welcome returns to Harry Redknapp’s side (all curses aside) following the club’s first loss of the season to Manchester United.
After the match, Redknapp indicated that both players are doing well on their recovery course: “Gareth was involved as he is coming back from injury and we wanted to get a game into him and one or two of the lads played, including Gomes and he was fine.”
When will Bale finally break his curse? Leave your brilliant predictions below!

No need to worry just yet. It will need a couple of injuries to get Gareth a start at the moment
You clearly didn’t see that he has won in cup and friendly games only and a reserve game is a friendly so hardly a broken curse?! Anyhows, hope the lad does well for Spurs under ‘arry…
The curse surely has been broken. He played 90 minutes and Spurs won!!
Bale has had a lot of bad luck.Perhaps that is changing now.The wheel of fortune turns.Just as you cannot expect to bet at cards every week and expect to win every week.So I believe Bale wil be a great asset to Spurs in the future.
