Spurs Wanted Ronaldo (The Fat One)  | read this item

ronaldoNow that the summer transfer window is closed, word has leaked out that Tottenham were hot on the heels on one of football’s most legendary strikers. Brazilian striker Ronaldo, now at Corinthians, apparently had to turn Spurs down as manager Harry Redknapp tried to add the slightly overweight player to his squad.

While the transfer didn’t happen over the summer, the rumors linking Ronaldo with a move to White Hart Lane aren’t over. Ronaldo’s reluctance to move to England is understandable as he is expecting his first child with his current girlfriend. With his contract at Corinthians expiring in December, January would be a perfect time for Tottenham to wrap up a move.

While most football fans may laugh at the prospect of one of football’s fattest players running around a Premier League pitch, there is no doubting his finishing. Ronaldo has rediscovered his magical touch back home in Brazil, scoring chipped goals, powerful strikes, and finishing off long runs that cemented his place in football folklore.

Similar to Michael Owen at Manchester United, Ronaldo could do a job off the bench for Spurs. The Brazilian needs only half a chance to grab a goal, and the White Hart Lane faithful would surely love to have a footballing legend at the club.

Would Ronaldo be worth a punt? Have your say below!

  3. Brian says:

Andy, you are so right…can we get some Premiership action back?

  4. Ronaldo is only 32, if he moved to a decent club like Tottenham and lost some pounds, he could still do wonders. Cassano did it, he went to Sampdoria and lost weight, and is now the one of the best offensive players in the Serie A, and for me, Cassano is in the top 20 offensive players in the world right now.

  5. Thomas O'Loughlin says:

Without injuries, he would have become the best player in history.

  6. Andy says:

Lol. You can tell we’re in the middle of an international break with stories like this.

  7. Faraaz says:

    It’s the PHat one.
