michael-owen2It’s been less than a week since Manchester United clinched the signing of former Liverpool star Michael Owen, but the United Megastore has already got a handle on requests for the new signing’s kit. In fact, according to one Megastore employee, not a single Michael Owen shirt has been ordered!

While an optimistic United fan such as myself attributes this to the fact that Owen doesn’t have a number yet, it does raise many questions. Will United fans welcome a former Liverpool legend to the club with open arms, and even if they do will little Mikey ever even feel at home at the club? Regardless of the fans’ emotions, though, does Owen have it in him these days to be a hit at Old Trafford?

I, for one, think that orders for Michael Owen Manchester United kits will start flooding in once the England striker starts banging in the goals. In a World Cup year, Owen knows how important it is to forge a good partnership with Wayne Rooney up top, and their performances on a club level could only lead to good things for England. His finishing ability is unquestioned, and with the full support of Sir Alex Ferguson and the worldclass players on show at United, Owen could be back in the thick of things once again.

Do you think Michael Owen will be a success at Manchester United? Have your say in the comments section below!
