Sir Alex Ferguson has clinched his first signing of the summer by completing a £16 million deal for former Wigan winger Antonio Valencia. The 23 year old Ecuador international will be a direct replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo’s spot on the Old Trafford flanks.

Valencia’s style is a bit different from what United fans were accustomed to with Cristiano Ronaldo. Instead of powerful runs into the middle, United fans will now witness the silky smooth and quick runs down the wing of Valencia. Ala the old Ryan Giggs, Valencia isn’t afraid to get to the endline and whip a cross in – meaning it’s imperative that United have a big man in the box (Berbatov? Benzema?).
