It’s hump day, and the transfer rumors are only getting started. Here are the murmurs floating around the world of football.
Karim Benzema and his agent may be distancing France’s most sought after striker, but reports all point towards an imminent move. Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has finally opened the door for a move, and Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to make a £35 million swoop for Benzema.
Or, if you believe reports out of Spain, it is Sergio Aguero that Manchester United are keen to sign. Fans at Old Trafford can still sing “Argentina!” in the 2009/10 season, with one Argentine replacing another. With Carlos Tevez heading to Manchester City and Cristiano Ronaldo finally agreeing a transfer to Real Madrid, the defending Premier League champions are set to spend €60 million on Atletico Madrid’s brightest star. Atletico, though, remain insistent that they will not sell Aguero…
Andres Iniesta may have ended Chelsea’s Champions League hopes at Stamford Bridge, but in the race for striker Yuri Zhirkov it looks like the Blues will come out on top. Chelsea’s pursuit comes on the recommendation of former manager Guus Hiddink, and it looks like an £18 million deal could persuade CSKA Moscow to sell Zhirkov.
Franck Ribery has been tipped as this summer’s most wanted man, but his future remains unclear. Manchester United made the French winger their number one target following Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit, but Real Madrid have also thrown their hat into the ring. French reports, though, suggest that Jose Bosingwa could be the deal breaker: Bayern want the right-back, and he could sweeten any deal between the two clubs, making Ribery land at Stamford Bridge. Hmmm…
In typical Arsene Wenger fashion…err…that’s not right. Well, Wenger may have seen the light, and rumor has it that the Arsenal manager is finally looking to splash the cash and secure the signings of more experienced players. After signing former Ajax captain Thomas Vermaelen last week, Wenger is keen to secure a double swoop of Klass-Jan Huntelaar and Wesley Sneijder from Real Madrid. The pair could cost the Gunners £30 million, but it’s the price Arsenal need to pay if they want to keep up.

Sounds like good business for Arsenal. Wenger is shrewd and these players fit in to his game plan
Sneijder and Huntelaar is very good business at that price, i hope that actually happens!
30 mill for Huntelaar and Sneijder is very good business. 60 million euros for Aguero is too much i feel even though he will be an amazing player.
man united will buy benzema and other important players for the red
If Manchester United are able to land Benzema, they will be right back as the top team in the Premier League.
