robin-van-persieWe’ve seen some pretty outrageous claims so far this summer, but The Sun has perhaps suggested the most unbelievable transfer claim thus far. They are reporting that Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is a target of – wait for it – Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson is apparently watching the van Persie situation unfold with a very keen eye, and The Sun reports that Fergie could make a cheeky bid for the “£20 million rated striker.”

van Persie, meanwhile, has hinted that a move away from London could be on the cards. “In the last four years I’ve won only one prize, the FA Cup, and that is too little. I want more.”

The Dutchman is presumably looking for confirmation from Arsene Wenger as to what the club’s future plans are. With experience lacking at the Emirates, van Persie now finds himself as a 26 year old man playing with a bunch of kids.

van Persie is stalling on Arsenal’s latest contract offer of £80,000 a week, but it isn’t because he’s not interested in the money. ”Financially the offer is fine but that is not everything to me. It’s about my ambition and how that can be fulfilled.”

If van Persie doesn’t receive the assurances that he wants, Manchester United could potentially pounce for the striker. Jose Mourinho also wants to bring the striker to Inter Milan.

Should van Persie leave Arsenal? Would United be a good fit? Have your say below!
