United, Real Bid for Valencia  | read this item

antonio-valenciaReal Madrid jump started their summer transfer activity last week with a sensational bid for Kaka, and the Spanish giants are not wasting any time when it comes to a second signing. Manchester United have joined Real Madrid in the pursuit of Wigan’s Antonio Valencia, with both sides bidding in excess of £16 million.

Steve Bruce insisted that Wigan would hold on to the Ecuadorian winger, but with Bruce now at Sunderland it’s hard to imagine Wigan could turn down so much money. Roberto Martinez will take the Wigan hotseat later this week, and he could be arriving at the club minus his most prized asset.

United have been linked with a plethora of wingers this summer as Cristiano Ronaldo’s rumored exit gets closer, while Real Madrid are completely overhauling their underachieving side from last year.

If Valencia heads to Old Trafford, he’d be joining the likes of Ronaldo, Nani, Ji Sung Park, Ryan Giggs, and Danny Welbeck on the wings, perhaps leaving him second in the depth chart.

Would Valencia be a good fit at either United or Real Madrid? Have your say in the comments section below!
