Brazilians are a funny species. We’ve seen some outrageous stories about Brazilian footballers, ranging from Robinho this season to Fat Ronaldo in years past.
Just a month ago it was Adriano’s turn to hit the headlines, as the former Inter Milan striker went AWOL from Italy. Found somewhere in Brazil, Adriano told the press that he was sick of Italy and needed to find himself. Football clearly was not on Adriano’s mind.
Just yesterday Brazilian club Flamengo announced that they have signed the left footed machine. While Adriano may not be at his best, Fat Ronaldo has proven that a Brazilian playing the beautiful game back on the sunny shores of their home country can revive a career. Adriano has already indicated that he is targetting a spot on Brazil’s 2010 World Cup squad.
Just like with Fat Ronaldo and all of the Brazilians before these two, I truly hope that Adriano can recover from his sickness and set the world alight once again. His talent – when on form – is undoubted, and his rocket of a shot is among the best in the world. Adriano’s career began at Flamengo, and hopefully it can start again at Flamengo.
Does Adriano have any hope of recovering? Have your say in the comments section below!
