We all knew coming into this season that Tottenham, on paper, was going to be a very strong team. They qualified for the UEFA Cup at the end of last season, and they were ready to play well this season as well. Everything seemed to be pointing in the right direction for them. The beginning of the season did not go according to plan, though. Eight Premier League matches into the season, Tottenham found themselves with 2 points, and without a manager. How times have changed for the lads at White Hart Lane.
It certainly wasn’t an easy ride, but Tottenham are back and performing better and better each week. With Harry Redknapp leading them since the last week of September, they find themselves sitting on 41 points and 9th on the Premier League table. Their consistent play on the field has paid off, as they are currently 4th on the form table. In recent weeks, they have found themselves as high as 1st; but either way, they are performing much better than the other teams fighting for the last UEFA Cup spot next season.
This is due, in large part, to major contributions from all members of the Tottenham squad. Everybody is working together toward a common goal, an attribute that had been lacking earlier in the season. From striker to goalkeeper, there have been very few mistakes as of late. And, if they keep this form up, then Europe will certainly be theirs next season. I’m not saying that it is going to be easy, though. Fulham is now hitting form, having finally figured out how to win on the road; this will certainly give them a boost of confidence. Although West Ham have been consistent all season, I cannot see them keeping up with Fulham and Tottenahm as the season winds down. Wigan meanwhile, have completely fallen off the pace, and seem destined to finish the lowest out of these four clubs.
Looking at Fulham’s and Tottenham’s remaining schedules, it will certainly be interesting to see who ends up being the victor. Both teams have almost identical schedules, and they certainly are not easy. Both clubs have three games against teams already playing in Europe next season, but Tottenham’s matches are all away. For that reason, I will give Fulham the edge. Tottenham are not out of the discussion by any means, and it will be extremely interesting to see how they fare over the final six matches. Look for Tottenham’s hunger to grow as Europe becomes more and more of a possibility for next season.

They might make it to Europe, but until they deepen their squad, I can’t see them getting anywhere.
