robbie-keaneRoy, before you get too excited, there still is no job offer on the table. Instead, the “other” Keane – Robbie – is being offered a life line. Teetering on the fringes of the first team, Robbie Keane hasn’t enjoyed the best of times at Liverpool.

Now, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is suggesting that the Republic of Ireland striker could be heading back to White Hart Lane. While no fee has been discussed between Tottenham and Liverpool just yet, Keane is surely excited about returning to his former club.

This move comes as no surprise as Redknapp has been backtracking on many of Juande Ramos’ recent sales. After bringing Jermain Defoe back to the club, Redknapp signed another former Spurs player in Pascal Chimbonda. If Robbie Keane is indeed brought back to the club, he’d be pairing up with Defoe, which will definitely bring back some nostalgia for Spurs fans.

The only question that remains is where Keane would fit into the current Tottenham setup. With three quality strikers already at the club in Defoe, Pavlyuchenko, and Darren Bent, adding Robbie Keane would directly push Darren Bent out of the door. If this is the case, several Prem clubs will be on high alert, with Sunderland a rumored destination for the English striker.

With all of this said, Keane’s potential destination could also be Manchester City, who are also monitoring the situation. It is definitely January in England…
