rooney-hurtWhen Manchester United step onto the pitch in a few hours against West Bromwich Albion, Sir Alex Ferguson will be faced with the easiest first team selection ever. At the moment, it’s a case of if you’re fit, you’re playing.

For once, the talk of the town will not be on who is on the pitch, but people will surely be speculating about the talent that is not on the pitch. At the moment, Manchester United are in the middle of one of the most intense injury crisises ever. Twelve first teamers are currently out injured, and as a unit these twelve players could be a successful Premier League side.

Read the current list of United players, and it’s hard to not think it’s a list of some of the most up and coming youth talents and some of the most established Premier League veterans.

Young talents that are injured: Danny Welbeck, Rafael da Silva, Fabio da Silva, Nani, Anderson, Jonny Evans

United veterans out injured: Wayne Rooney, Ji-Sung Park, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown, Owen Hargreaves

All signs indicate that Darren Fletcher will be used as a makeshift right back against West Brom as Cristiano Ronaldo struggles with a stomach bug.

All of this comes at a time where Manchester United are chasing a record eleventh consecutive league clean sheet. If United can hold out for a clean sheet and all three points, United fans will be extremely optimistic about their chances to bring home a third straight Premier League title come May. Only time will tell if United can deal with all of these injuries.
