Harry Redknapp and the club have confirmed that Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones is on their radar. Should this deal go through, sources are saying that Darren Bent could be on the move to Sunderland in a swap. Jones could be very interested in moving to Tottenham since former Wigan midfielder Wilson Palacios made the move to the North London club on Friday.
As both Sunderland and Tottenham are in the relegation battle, Jones’ services would be welcomed either place. Losing Jones would be detrimental to Sunderland’s success down the stretch, while Tottenham are hoping Jones would propel them up the table. Sunderland would be stupid to lose a player of his caliber, especially in a year where anyone can get relegated. Jones has much more of an impact on a game than Darren Bent and we have seen why this season. Bent hasn’t been in the headlines much lately (granted he does have 7 goals on the year), but Jones has been heating up lately and has found himself finding the back of the net more recently.
We will have to see how the rest of this plays out as the end of silly season nears, so make sure to stay with Premiership Talk as this story unfolds over the next couple of days.
