When Manchester United signed Angolan striker Manucho last year, everyone was confused, anxious, and excited. Rumors were floating around saying that Manucho is a carbon copy of Didier Drogba, that he’d be the 4th striker Sir Alex Ferguson has been dreaming of, and that he would go down in United folklore.
Unfortunately for him and for United, none of this happened. Despite Manucho’s impressive showings for Angola at the African Cup of Nations last year, the striker never really got going at Old Trafford. Three substitute appearances later, Manucho has agreed to sign for Premier League newcomers Hull City on loan for the rest of the season.
Hull fans will be hoping Manucho can follow in the footsteps of his United teammate Fraizer Campbell, who impressed at the KC Stadium during his own loan spell there.
“We’ve agreed a loan till the end of the season with Manchester United for Manucho,” confirmed Brown. “The lad is a proven goalscorer at certain levels, though not yet at Premier League level.
“He is 6ft 3in, 6ft 4in, great stature, he has a good eye for goal, and is certainly good aerially. He has a presence about him.
“He hasn’t got the pace of Fraizer Campbell but hopefully he has the goalscoring instincts.”
