By | 9th January 2009

defoe-back-at-spursIt is finally official. After several days of what seemed like non-action, Jermain Defoe is back playing for Spurs. Even though he was paraded in front of the fans before Tottenham’s semi-final match against Burnley, no deal was finalized at the time. Defoe is all registered and set to play this Sunday against Wigan at the JJB.

The 26-year-old striker will be returning to the club he left just over a year ago. The fansĀ  and management alike are sure happy to have him back and it will be very exciting to see how Defoe does once he steps back onto the pitch with his old club.

“We are delighted to welcome Jermain back to the club,” said Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is very excited to be linking back up with Defoe. “This is the third club I have signed him for because I know what a top-class player he is as well as a proven goalscorer,” Redknapp said. It sure will be interesting to see how Redknapp uses him in the attack on Sunday. He has been hinting at coupling him with Roman Pavyluchenko in what should be a fantastic finishing duo.
