It is final. Matthew Etherington is the new winger for Stoke City. Etherington will be making his debut this Saturday against Liverpool. It is believed that Stoke and West Ham have agreed on a £3million fee. Etherington then signed a 3-year deal. Although Etherington has been well known for his gambling problems, Pulis is confident that a change of scenery will be just what the 27-year-old winger needs.
Etherington will be received well immediately by his new home crowd. The fans at Britannia Stadium could use every last boost of confidence possible as their team has not been fairing so well in their Premier League campaign. In a vote of confidence for the Stoke City board and Tony Pulis, Etherington said he intends to be playing in the Premier League with Stoke next season.
He continued by saying, “We have every chance here. I wouldn’t have come here if I thought we were certainties to go down. It wouldn’t interest me. I think we have every chance of staying up. The next two games, against Liverpool and Chelsea, will be tough, and anything we get from them will be a bonus. But we are more than capable of doing that.”
