Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood is on somebody’s radar. No, it’s not Martin O’Neill offering to give him a lot more playing time. It’s Stoke City, believe it or not.
Harewood’s agent, Phil Sproson, told The Sentinel that, “Stoke are showing an interest in the player, but they will have to buy because Villa won’t loan him.” Sproson continued to say that, “[Villa] are looking to sell him in this window if they can, or in the summer if not, but Marlon’s contract runs until the end of next season. Villa will listen to realistic offers, but if someone tries to nick him it will not happen. It’s a case of whoever strikes a deal with Villa first will probably get him.”
Although I’m sure that Harewood is loving the attention and relishing the thought of playing more minutes for the rest of the season, Sproson also said that Harewood is currently not looking to leave the friendly confines of Villa Park. Harewood, after all, did just arrive there in a move from West Ham in 2007. The prospect of a move certainly is enticing, so we will have to see how the rest of this plays out over the remainder of the transfer window.
