We have finally reached the end of our marathon of matches. We finish it off with two great games.
Manchester United v. Middlesbrough (20:00): It hasn’t been pretty for Manchester United lately, but somehow they still keep getting points and sticking with the rest of the title chasers. Not to mention that they have 2 games in hand, and 2 wins would put them in front of Chelsea for 2nd on the table. Meanwhile, Middlesbrough has been in poor form lately, and it doesn’t look to be fixing itself anytime soon. Something will have to give in this game, and I really think that this could be a game that can really point United in the right direction. I wouldn’t expect it to be a blowout, but I do see the team putting together a solid performance and getting the job done. Being at home will help them, since they haven’t been home since before they left for Japan, so this could really be a match that could lift their spirits. Man United wins this one confidently.
Hull v. Aston Villa (20:00): What has happened to Hull? I thought it would be the team of destiny this season after their superb start, but after a 9-2 losing margin over their last two matches, I don’t see how to fix the situation. First they were dismantled 4-1 against a struggling Sunderland side, and then on Boxing Day they were obliterated 5-1 by an even worse playing Manchester City squad. Now on Tuesday, they will be going up against an Aston Villa team that means business. They aren’t up near the top of the table because of a hot start. They are for real, and they will not be cooling down anytime soon. Ashley Young and company showed their resilience when they were practically down and out 2-0 late in the second half to Arsenal. A penalty kick and a 90th minute equalizer later, and they were walking off the pitch with a hard earned draw. After seeing how Hull has been playing, I don’t see Villa slowing down soon. Their fantastic form will continue, and they will come away with the 3 points. Their title chances live on.
