Everton celebrated their 1-0 win over Tottenham half-heartedly, knowing that there are many problems the Toffees will need to deal with in the coming weeks. Following the match, David Moyes confirmed that striker Yakubu will be out for the rest of the Premier League campaign. The Nigerian was subbed out in the first half after injuring his achilles tendon, and now faces a long layoff.
Furthermore, Yakubu’s replacement – Louis Saha – was stretchered off later in the match with a hamstring tear. There is no word on how long Saha will be out, but it doesn’t look good for the side from Liverpool.
As January approaches Moyes will be looking at the transfer market to find a suitable striker. For now Everton will need to rely on the likes of Victor Anichebe and James Vaughan.
Will Everton make it to January in good form or will they stumble through December? Discuss this and much more at the Premiership Talk Forum.
