Premiership Talk Spotlight: Seyfo Soley

By | 21st October 2008

Seyfo Soley is a tenacious defensive midfielder who formerly played for KRC Genk and Preston North End. He’s the captain of the Gambian National Squad and is still searching for a club since the expiration of his contract in 2007. Soley has much skill and strikingly reminds this writer of Claude Makelele (who I hold in high regard.) The 28 year-old has had trials with Motherwell, Hearts, and Rangers since his contract ran out and seemingly can’t snatch a contract. He certainly is capable of playing anywhere from the Premiership to La Liga to Eredivisie. I just can’t seem to understand why such a talent, hasn’t been snatched up on free transfer yet. I wonder if he’ll ever find a home before it’s too late but I can’t see anyone passing up on him. He could easily slot in and find a home in any league and on any team. I’m not 100% sure but I believe he’s made around 28 caps for The Gambia and has 1 goal. He certainly deserves a look, and my favorites to capture him are Motherwell, considering he has recently had a tryout with them on July 26th againts Bradford F.C.
