When Juande Ramos took over Tottenham last season, many were expecting him to end the annual underachivement that fans at White Hart Lane witnessed. The signs were extremely encouraging as his side marched to silverware in the form of the Carling Cup. A disappointing finish in the table was overlooked as Ramos only took control midway through the season. Instead, fans and board members alike pointed towards this season saying that with a full preseason under his belt, Juande could prove his managerial class and catapult Tottenham towards the top four.
Instead, Tottenham currently find themselves at the foot of the table after six matches. Even the likes of Hull, Stoke, and West Brom – who were strongly tipped for relegation – are easily outperforming the stars from London. With the likes of Luka Modric, Gio dos Santos, Darren Bent, Ledley King, and Jonathan Woodgate in your side it’s harder to do this poorly than it is to succeed. The management of the club needs to be looked at, and Juande Ramos is starting to feel this pressure.
Unless he can immediately turn things around, Ramos will be looking for a new job very soon. The board will be reviewing his position throughout this week, with a midweek sacking a possibility. If he does make it to the weekend, Juande Ramos cannot afford anything other than three points against Hull. This match will be ironic for a number of reasons, not least because these two sides should be on the opposite side of the spectrum from each other. Yes, they are, but not in the order it’s supposed to be. Spurs should be in the top half of the table with Hull fighting for their lives.
If Ramos is still Tottenham manager come the end of the week, all eyes will be on White Hart Lane this Sunday. Leave your prediction about this match in the Premiership Talk Predictions Game.
