HuntelaarThe latest news is that the injury prone Frenchman Louis Saha is on his way to Everton. This is in addition to the news in the last 24 hours that Chinese striker Dong left Old Trafford. I think a new striker could be signing soon. With Spurs holding firm, Sir Alex may be forced to pursue other targets, with many fans suggesting Huntelaar of Ajax could be on the cards. However, it could be that Ferguson is just settling for the four strikers he has, despite saying he wanted more experience. He has Manucho, Frazier Campbell, Rooney and Tevez currently at his disposal. I wouldn’t rule out an experienced striker.

Here are the three most probable signings for Manchester United:

Huntelaar – A deceptively intelligent player, strong, pacey, certainly knows where the net is, fits what Fergie is after. Would cost less than Berbatov, and is younger. Never been known to suffer a massive mood swing either. His record with Ajax is amazing.

Berbatov - Obviously Ferguson’s top target, but Spurs have inflated his already large value. This has led relations between the clubs to break down dramatically, meaning Spurs are unlikely to back down in their negotiations. The only way this transfer will go though is if United up their offer, which it has already been implied by Sir Alex that it won’t, or if Spurs back down. Which, lets face it, looks very unlikely. It’s obvious that Berbatov has quality, but there are massive question marks over his attitude.

Henrik Larsson
– Amongst the talk of Saha, most United fans seem to have missed that Larsson has been told he can leave by his club. The arrival of the former loan star would delight many of the Old Trafford faithful.  He’s 36, so would make a good impact player and short term option.  The Celtic legend can change games all on his own. Could it be that Ferguson is planning a surprise signing? He claims to be in the dark over any potential deal, is this just a clever ruse?

One things for sure, we’ll find out in the next few days. Should be fun. Discuss all of this at the Premiership Talk Forum.
